Location: Raleigh, NC
$21 million
Size: 92,500 sf (42,400 renovation + 50,100 addition)
Year Completed: 2005

Home to the departments of Zoology and Biological Sciences, the David Clark Laboratory at NC State University has undergone a comprehensive renovation and an expansion that has more than doubled the size of the building. The three story addition has floors framed with cast-in-place concrete beams and skip joists. The roofs, canopies, stair towers and pedestrian bridge are framed with structural steel. The building is clad in traditional brick with an elegant use of high bay windows, curtain wall and aluminum composite panels.

The existing building renovation included a significant amount of structural in-fill and demolition executed with intricate details developed by LHC.
